Eliott C. Ponte, NCCO, was named regulatory compliance counsel in November 2014. In his role, Ponte helps credit unions with a variety of compliance issues and writes articles for NAFCU publications, such as the NAFCU Compliance Blog and the NAFCU Compliance Monitor. Prior to joining NAFCU, he worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Office of Supervision, Enforcement Division, where he worked on various regulatory supervision issues. Ponte also interned at NAFCU from August 2012 to April 2013, and served as law clerk to NAFCU from March 2014 to November 2014.
Ponte is a graduate of the American University Washington College of Law, and holds a master's of business administration degree in finance from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Hartford. Mr. Ponte also served as an Articles Editor to the Administrative Law Review, a student run publication published quarterly by the American Bar Association Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. Ponte is also a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
